Guidance is provided for installing Futerra TRMs on slopes and in channels, including Futerra 7003, 7010, 7020 and R45 Series. It covers site preparation to meet design grade and soil conditions, construction of anchor trenches and check slots, and proper rolling, overlapping and pinning patterns for the matting. Recommended anchoring devices and pin densities are outlined for various slope and channel conditions. The guide also explains soil filling, seeding and sod installation to enhance vegetation establishment, along with GreenArmor® System procedures using FGM®.
Key Points
- Site must be shaped to design specifications and dressed free of soil clods, clumps, rocks or vehicle imprints so the Futerra TRM lies flush to surface contours.
- Anchor trenches at the beginning of channels and intermediate check slots at approximately 25-foot intervals secure the mat; backfill and compact without damaging the TRM.
- Overlaps are 3 to 4 inches with 2- to 3-foot splices; pin spacing is typically 3 to 5 feet with 3–4 pins per sq. yd. on 1:1 to 2:1 slopes and 2–3 pins per sq. yd. on 3:1 and lesser slopes, with similar guidance for high and low flow channels.
- Soil filling with ½ to ¾ inches of fine soil, seeding before and after filling, optional sod installation, and GreenArmor System infill with 0.5 inches of FGM™ at an application rate of 3,500 lbs/acre support performance and vegetative establishment.
