Select a location for the bull pen that will have minimum interference with play and maximum safety for pitchers and catchers, preferably behind a fence or protection. When choosing, look beyond the pitching areas to determine if any obstacle would cause a problem for the pitcher or the catcher. If the area has the potential to have hit or thrown balls coming into the area, always have a person wearing a batters helmet and wearing a glove watching the game to catch, alert or deflect any incoming balls or players.
Determine the location where you would like the plate. Place a stake where the apex (point) will be.
Install the plate per instructions from the manufacturer.
